TIM MOSS NAMED YOUNG ACCOUNTANT OF THE YEAR

TIM MOSS NAMED YOUNG ACCOUNTANT OF THE YEAR

Tim Moss from Grant Thornton has been awarded the prestigious Sharp Consultancy Young Accountant of the Year accolade for 2019. The award was presented to Tim at a glittering awards ceremony held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The competition was established in 2000 and is run by the financial recruitment specialists Sharp Consultancy in conjunction with the West Yorkshire Society of Chartered Accountants. The awards recognise the best of the region’s accountants who are either training to be qualified or have been qualified for up to two years.

Candidates for the title are nominated by their employers and having been shortlisted along with six other finalists, Tim excelled in each of the assessment areas during a panel interview with the judges who, in selecting him as the overall winner, cited his commitment to his chosen career and for demonstrating the qualities needed to succeed in the future.

Lee Sweeney, regional director at Sharp Consultancy added:  “When we established the Young Accountant of the Year competition twenty years ago we could never have imagined that two decades later we would still witness the bar being raised year by year. The candidates we had this year were of an exceptionally high standard – that makes our jobs as judges extremely difficult as several could have triumphed; Tim demonstrated all the qualities that we were looking for – and more – and will undoubtedly become an outstanding business leader in the future.”

He added: “Over the many years that we have run the Young Accountant of the Year, it has been an absolute pleasure to see the strength and depth of young talent which we have in our region and Tim joins a very illustrious group of individuals who have since gone on to achieve great things in their careers.”

Jack Sunter of Mazars was named runner-up with Tom Reid of Murray Harcourt taking third place. The other finalists were Callum Byers (Deloitte), Daryl Walsh (KPMG), Dale Smith (EY) and Joseph Miller (PwC).
