Assistant Financial Controller

 A leading UK-wide niche consultancy group based in Wakefield are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the business at a pivotal stage of its expansion. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of a growing organisation.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to Financial Controller and Group Finance Director you will have full commercial exposure across the group and be instrumental in driving growth. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Leadership: Oversee all financial operations, ensuring robust processes and controls are in place. Identify, evaluate, and implement improvements where necessary.

  • Team Management: Take full responsibility for the accounts team, including assigning duties based on individual skill sets and managing the Accounts Payable division to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, timely updates to senior stakeholders on current financial performance and future projections.

  • Strategic Input: Present financial insights to internal and external parties, influencing key commercial decisions and supporting the organisation’s growth strategy.

About You:

  • Ideally CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified, with proven experience as a Finance Manager or Financial Controller.

  • Strong understanding of financial controls and process improvement.

  • Exposure to multi-site SME organisations is advantageous but not essential.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
