Financial Controller (FD Designate)

Job description

​We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a prestigious, globally recognised automotive business known for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and collaboration. As a vital part of the senior leadership team, the Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations while playing a strategic role in shaping the future direction of the company. This position is ideal for a commercially driven, forward-thinking finance professional with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering meaningful business impact. There is a clear pathway for this role to evolve into a Finance Director position within the next 18 months.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports to support business performance analysis and decision-making.

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Partner with department heads to deliver insightful financial planning and analysis.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting requirements, tax regulations, and internal policies.

  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and stakeholders as required.

  • Support the executive team with financial modelling, investment appraisal, and strategic planning.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA, Part Qualified or Equivalent.

  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen.

  • Proficient in financial systems and reporting tools; advanced Excel skills essential.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • A proactive, hands-on attitude and the ability to challenge the status quo.

  • Passionate about continuous improvement and delivering tangible business impact.
