Finance Business Partner

Job description

We are excited to be partnering with a multi-award-winning engineering company to recruit a Finance Business Partner for their growing Wakefield team. This role is central to the business, working alongside operational and commercial leaders to provide insightful financial analysis, support strategic decision-making, and drive the success of key projects. You will translate complex financial data into actionable insights, becoming a trusted and visible advisor across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers and senior stakeholders to review performance, identify efficiencies, and enhance profitability.

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning for core business areas.

  • Produce monthly management accounts, project forecasts, and variance analyses.

  • Deliver meaningful, data-driven insights to support both strategic and operational decisions.

  • Identify and manage financial risks and opportunities across projects.

  • Support commercial initiatives, including bids, tenders, and new business opportunities.

  • Contribute to divisional FP&A activities and performance reviews.

  • Improve reporting processes, enhance data accuracy, and strengthen financial systems.

  • Maintain robust financial governance and compliance across operations.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • A finance professional with commercial awareness and a hands-on approach.

  • Confident in working with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions, and challenging where necessary.

  • Experienced in project-focused industries such as engineering, construction, or utilities.

  • Skilled in advanced Excel; ERP system experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) is highly desirable.

  • Proactive, analytical, and focused on continuous improvement.
