Group Financial Controller

​Sharp Consultancy are working with a dynamic and rapidly growing service business with a current turnover of just over £30 million, operating across three established entities.

The organisation has built a strong market position to date and is now entering an exciting new phase of strategic expansion. With a clear and ambitious plan to scale to c£45 million+ within the next five years.

Growth will be driven through a combination of organic performance improvements, operational efficiencies, and a targeted acquisition strategy.

This growth is already underway, with investment being made into infrastructure, systems, and leadership capability to support increased scale and complexity. As the business continues to evolve into a larger, more sophisticated group structure, finance will play a critical role in enabling this journey — from strengthening controls and enhancing reporting, to supporting commercial decision-making and integrating new acquisitions.

This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape financial strategy, improve reporting, and support commercial decision-making during an exciting phase of expansion.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you will take ownership of group finance operations and play a pivotal role in driving performance, controls, and scalability across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the finance function across multiple entities.

  • Overseeing monthly management accounts and consolidated group reporting.

  • Ensuring robust financial controls, processes, and governance frameworks.

  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

  • Acting as a key business partner to senior stakeholders across operations.

  • Leading on audit processes and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Supporting M&A activity including due diligence and post-acquisition integration.

  • Driving improvements in systems, reporting, and financial insight.

About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager / Financial Controller role.

  • Experience within a service-based business is highly desirable.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen.

  • Experience / exposure or interest in acquisitions / M&A activity.

  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
