Financial Accountant

Leading business in the York area currently requires an experienced CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or passed finalist Financial Accountant. The position will involve some operational and leadership responsibilities and will require a wide range of technical knowledge and experience. This role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to take on broad significant responsibilities and develop themselves and their team in a fast-paced business. Internally you will have exposure to the Board and Senior Management across all sites. Externally you will partner with Auditors and Banks and other professional advisors at period end.
Your duties will include but not limited to:

*Management of weekly site and consolidated cash flow forecasting, related liaison with FC and ability to take decisions based upon this.
*Support and development of Assistant Accountant and Payroll staff with ultimate responsibility for their duties.
*Month end journals.
*Quarterly VAT returns.
*Monthly Intrastat submissions.
*Management of national statistics.
*Ad hoc reporting as required.
*Control and accounting for the company's balance sheet including:
oMaintenance of fixed asset register
oMaintenance of lease schedules
oControl of accruals and prepayments

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the following experience:

*Hold an accounting qualification or be a passed finalist (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
*Have strong accounting and business partnering skills preferably within a retail sector.
*Experience of financial accounts.
*Experience of preparing bank reconciliations.
*Proven experience of implementing process improvements.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Advanced user of Excel including pivot tables and vlookups.
