Finance Manager

Job description

 We are excited to be recruiting a Finance Manager position for an SME manufacturing business in Huddersfield. The Finance Manager will play a critical role in supporting and improving the financial performance of the UK manufacturing operations.

This is a broad and varied position, ideal for someone who enjoys the autonomy and variety that comes with working in an SME environment. You’ll be responsible for all day-to-day finance activities, month-end reporting, and providing commercial support to drive informed business decisions.

Key responsibilities as Finance Manager will include;

  • Oversee the end-to-end finance function, including sales and purchase ledgers, payroll, and cash-flow

  • Produce monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts

  • Monitor financial performance, providing analysis and commentary to the Managing Director and senior team

  • Manage VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns

  • Support costing, pricing, and margin analysis for manufacturing operations

  • Lead continuous improvement in financial systems, controls, and processes

  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and banking partners

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • Experience in a similar Finance Manager or Management Accountant role, ideally within manufacturing or engineering

  • Excellent understanding of management accounting, cash-flow management, and reporting

  • A proactive approach with analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Confident communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels

  • (Ideally) a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA), though strong QBE candidates are also encouraged to apply
