Finance Business Partner

Job description

Sharp Consultancy are supporting a service-sector business in the appointment of a Finance Business Partner who will sit at the heart of commercial decision-making. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who isn’t afraid to challenge, influence, and improve it.

You’ll lead a team of three, but your value will be felt well beyond your direct reports.

This role is about driving performance, shaping strategy, and raising commercial awareness across the organisation.

The Opportunity

Working closely with senior operational and commercial leaders, you’ll provide insight that goes beyond the numbers. You’ll help stakeholders understand what’s driving performance, where value is being created or lost, and what needs to change.

You’ll be equally comfortable deep in the detail or standing back to influence strategic direction. It suits someone who enjoys being hands-on, commercially curious, and outcome-focused.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead commercial finance partner to senior stakeholders, providing robust challenge and clear financial insight

  • Influence strategic and operational decisions through high-quality analysis, scenario modelling, and forecasting

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of three, embedding a commercial, value-led mindset

  • Own budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring they are forward-looking, relevant, and decision-focused

  • Deliver actionable performance analysis, highlighting margin drivers, productivity, and cost efficiency

  • Support pricing decisions, contract profitability, and investment appraisals

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, and return on investment

  • Drive continuous improvement in how finance supports commercial decision-making across the business

About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Track record in a senior Finance Business Partner or Commercial Finance role, ideally within a service-led environment

  • Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and challenging constructively

  • Hands-on leader who develops people and leads by example

  • Commercially sharp, analytical, and naturally curious about how the business operates

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, change-driven environment

What’s on Offer

  • Salary up to £65,000, depending on experience

  • The opportunity to join a growing, financially stable engineering business

  • A role with real influence and visibility at senior level

  • Career progression as the business continues to expand

  • Supportive leadership team and collaborative working culture
