Finance Business Partner

Job description

​We are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded, multi-award-winning engineering organisation to recruit a Finance Business Partner for their expanding team in Wakefield. This is a pivotal role within the business, working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial insight, influence strategic decision-making, and support the successful delivery of key projects. You will play a key part in turning complex financial data into clear, actionable insight, establishing yourself as a trusted partner across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with project managers and senior stakeholders to assess performance, identify efficiencies, and drive profitability.

  • Ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

  • Monthly management accounts, project forecasts, and detailed variance analysis.

  • Provide data-led insights to inform both strategic and day-to-day decision-making.

  • Identify risks and opportunities across projects and support mitigation strategies.

  • Support commercial activities, including bids, tenders, and new business proposals.

  • Contribute to FP&A processes, including performance reviews and reporting cycles.

  • Enhance reporting, improve data integrity, and support system improvements.

  • Ensure strong financial controls, governance, and compliance are maintained.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • Commercially minded finance professional with a proactive, hands-on approach.

  • Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, able to influence and constructively challenge.

  • Experience in project-led environments e.g. engineering, construction, or utilities.

  • Advanced Excel skills, experience with various ERP systems is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) is highly beneficial.

  • Analytical, forward-thinking, and driven by continuous improvement.
