Finance Assistant

Sharp Consultancy are working with a well-established and fast-growing organisation in the hospitality sector, based in Sheffield, who are looking to appoint a Finance Assistant to join their experienced finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is either studying AAT Level 3/4 or already has relevant experience, to develop their skills in a supportive environment. The business operates in a fast-paced, commercially driven sector and is ideally looking for a candidate with experience in hospitality or construction, although this is not essential.

 

Reporting into the Finance Director and Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Key Duties:

  • Processing and managing purchase orders and supplier invoices

  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies

  • Balance sheet reconciliations

  • Supporting the month-end process, including accruals, prepayments and journals

  • Verifying subcontractor details and assisting with CIS returns (if applicable)

  • Providing key data to support cashflow forecasting

  • Assisting the Credit Control team with debtor management as required

 

This is a varied and hands-on finance role that would suit a proactive individual who is eager to grow within a successful, well-supported finance team. Experience with Xero is desirable, and strong Excel skills will be advantageous.

 

Skills and experience required:

  • AAT Level 3/4 (studying or qualified)

  • Experience in a similar finance/accounts role

  • Sector experience in hospitality or construction (preferred)

  • Working knowledge of Xero (advantageous)

  • Strong organisational skills with great attention to detail

  • Confident communicator and team player
