We are delighted to be working with a global manufacturing business in their recruitment for a Cost Accountant at their Sheffield site. This business have been established for over 50 years and are true specialists in their field, supplying their product range to a variety of sectors including aerospace, power generation and motorsport.
Following new strategic plans over the next 5 years the position of Cost Accountant has been generated and will report directly into the Finance Director whilst supporting the wider finance function. This position is ideal for candidates from a Finance Business Partner / FP&A Accountant / Manufacturing Accountant background who are looking to develop their career in a more strategic direction within an SME environment.
As Cost Accountant you will form a key part of the Senior Management Team and develop costing strategies, analyse cost variance and drive cost-down initiatives to enhance business performance. This position will play a pivotal role in the future growth of the business having both a commercial and strategic focus through the provision of valuable performance reports and insights.
Duties will include:
* Collaborating with the manufacturing and sales team to provide knowledge and analysis on manufacturing costs, bill of materials and product pricing
* Implementation of weekly production reports (including variances) and labour capture
* Ownership in the management of standard costs
* Implement and ensure robust financial controls, covering areas such as stock integrity, annual stocktakes and product cost prices
* Business partnering with relevant stakeholders across the business including sales, operational teams and business development managers to reduce cost variance in a collaborative manner
* Ownership in the production of P+L, balance Sheet and cash-flow models
* Full responsibility of monthly budgeting and forecasting processes including reforecasting where appropriate and cost reduction targets
* Implementation and maintenance of key variance analysis covering manufacturing, sales and profitability
* Preparation of timely and accurate month end reports as required
Person Specification:
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA Part-Qualified or Qualified
* Qualified by Experience
* Previous manufacturing experience
* Goal-orientated individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
