Sharp Consultancy are pleased to be working with a niche manufacturing SME, part of a larger and well-established group, to recruit a Company Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys being at the heart of a business and wants to take real ownership of the finance function.

 

With a turnover of circa £2 million, this role will see you take full responsibility for the production of management accounts while acting as the strong number two on site. Reporting into an experienced Group Financial Controller, you’ll be the go-to person for all transactional finance and day-to-day finance queries across the business.

 

This is a fully site-based role (five days on site) and would suit someone who enjoys being embedded within operations. If you’re looking for a position you can truly make your own, this is it.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will oversee the day-to-day finance function and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting for the business unit.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts with full commentary

  • Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of the general ledger

  • Overseeing purchase and sales ledger activities

  • Managing cash flow and supporting budgeting processes

  • VAT returns and statutory compliance support

  • Acting as the first point of contact for finance-related queries on site

  • Supporting transactional processing where required

  • Liaising with group finance and contributing to group reporting requirements

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements

About You

  • Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience

  • Experience producing full management accounts

  • Strong understanding of transactional finance processes

  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a standalone capacity

  • Confident communicator who can engage with operational teams

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and commercially aware
