Purchase Ledger Clerk

Job description

​Sharp Consultancy are working with a well-established Construction business based in Sheffield who are looking to add a Purchase Ledger Clerk to their team on a part time and permanent basis.

You will take full ownership of the Purchase Ledger function (excluding subcontractor invoicing), ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong supplier relationships across the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-end processing of supplier invoices, ensuring timely and accurate posting.

  • Managing and resolving invoice queries, including proactively chasing outstanding credits.

  • Performing regular supplier statement reconciliations to maintain ledger integrity.

  • Preparing and executing payment runs in line with company procedures.

  • Issuing remittance advice to suppliers in a timely manner.

  • Allocating direct debit payments and maintaining accurate records.

  • Managing Barclaycard transactions and reconciliations.

  • Maintaining organised digital records of all supplier transactions.

Skills and experience required:

  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience using Sage50 (Desirable but not essential).

  • Good level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.
