Based in Wakefield I am working with a rewarding organisation recruiting a Payroll Officer to work as a member of the Payroll team ensuring that the Association's payroll procedures are conducted in a timely and accurate manner.

Key responsibilities are to include but not exclusive to:

* Work within the team to assist with the processing of three-monthly payrolls
* Inputting variables, i.e. add hours, sleep-ins, on-calls
* Calculating sickness deduction/payments, backdated pay, cost splits, incremental rises, changes in hours, leaver payments (including redundancy), re-grades and all other variable data relating to pay
* Processing and checking of all starter and leaver information
* Calculating and monitoring all statutory payments and ensuring current legislation is adhered to
* Administering the company's benefits
* Administer all Attachment of Earnings Orders/Direct Earnings Attachments and liaise with relevant authorities regarding any payment queries.
* Produce and distribute twice monthly payroll reports to relevant staff and deal with all queries that arise from these.
* Answering queries from all internal (HR, managers, employees) and external (Government Departments, Banks/Building Societies, Pension Providers) agencies.
* Verifying the accuracy of payroll input from within the organisation and liaise directly with HR and managers to resolve any issues
* Assisting the Deputy Payroll Manager in keeping the payroll manual and procedures up to date and disseminating the information as appropriate
* Production of Government statistics for Monthly Return of Wages and Salaries and Quarterly Business Survey reporting

I am keen to hear from individuals with the following skills and experience:

* Previous experience of end-to-end payroll preparation is essential
* Basic understanding of PAYE, NI deductions and salary exchange
* Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of MS Excel
* Excellent excel including pivot tables and 'v' look-ups
* Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
* Experience of Google applications, including Gmail and Google Docs
* Highly organised and methodical with excellent interpersonal skills
* Flexible approach to work, with the ability to question the status quo
* Able to work on own initiative and prioritise competing demands
