Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working on a retained and exclusive basis with Arches Housing, in recruiting a Management Accountant into their successful and well-established finance team.

Formed in 1975, Arches Housing offer affordable homes for rent, regeneration and revival of communities in Sheffield where they currently provide over 1200 properties specialising in Sheffield, Rotherham and surrounding areas.

The role will be based at Burngreave Road in Sheffield however, the post holder, in fulfilling their duties, may be required to travel throughout the Sheffield City Region.

Job responsibilities

This role represents an outstanding opportunity where you will be reporting into the Finance Manager and as a part of a team of 4, you will be assisting in the production of annual and management accounts whilst reporting to an agreed timetable alongside maintaining the financial ledgers of the Association keeping all financial postings to systems up to date on a daily basis.

Principal duties

*Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly management accounts
*Investigate any variances or underlying trends and propose corrective measures, in discussion with other managers
*Keeping daily accounts for cash transactions, investigating any unusual or significant transactions, and updating forecasts
*Monitor capital transactions and keep the fixed asset register accurate and up to date
*Inputting journals to the general ledger, as well as maintaining records of interest receivable, and aid the accounts assistant in the preparation of the monthly accruals and prepayments
*Assist with finance planning processes, including annual budgets, forecasts and long-term plans
*Carry out rent account, purchase ledger, cash receipts and payments posting, as well as journal entries and data integration routines into the financial ledgers
*Carry out financial adjustments to tenants' accounts as requested
*Help in preparing annual accounts
*Updating the property and general assets records and preparing schedules of debtors and creditors which will include any accruals and prepayments
*Assist with external reporting to the required timetable e.g. to NROSH, HCA and local authorities etc
*Support the supervision of the day to day workload of the Accounts Assistant, ensuring daily tasks are completed to a high standard
*Assist the finance manager with the rent review and any rent queries
*Liaise with the development manager to ensure the cash flow forecast is accurate and updated in a timely manner
*Monitor cash flow on a weekly basis and maintain the cash flow forecast
*Develop strong relationships with the key internal stakeholders within the organisation
*Strong communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
*Ensure payroll is performed on a monthly basis including processing new starters and leavers
*Maintain payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data
*Process payment and submission for the monthly HMRC return for PAYE and CIS in accordance with the deadlines
*Adhere to payroll policies and procedures and comply with relevant law
*Oversee annual service charge reconciliation and deal with any queries
*Perform Ad hoc duties when required
