Interim Power BI Finance Manager

Job description

A hugely successful business in Harrogate seeks a highly skilled project accountant to support them on an interesting 12 month project.

Sitting in the Commercial Finance team, this role is to own the financial reporting system and act as a link between finance and IT……overseeing the design, governance and continuous improvement of the reporting tools, D365 outputs and dashboards.

Some of the key tasks include:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance financial and operational reporting across the business (e.g., revenue, margins, utilisation, recurring costs, contract profitability) using Excel or Power BI.
  • Own the creation and distribution of management information (MI), dashboards, and KPIs using Power BI tools focusing on both YTD performance but also the full year targets.
  • Translate business requirements into technical reporting specification in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Validate the integrity of the Finance Data Lake and reconcile to reported actuals.
  • Maintain data governance, user access controls, and process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot D365 system issues and coordinate fixes with internal IT teams or external vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline reporting workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data flows between operational and finance systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial governance standards.

To be considered for this particularly interesting role, you must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and be able to demonstrate a successful track record for improving reporting dashboards using Power BI. An understanding of D365 would also be advantageous, as would the ability to explain technical concepts to stakeholders in the wider business.

The client expects someone to work in their fabulous Harrogate office 2 days per week and to be available to start in January 2026. Brilliant opportunity to join a particularly well run business.
