Interim Finance Lead– Project-Based Business

Contract: 4–6 Months

Salary: £200 - £250 p/d

Location: Sheffield (Fully On-Site)

Right to Work: UK eligibility required

 

A respected engineering and projects-focused organisation based in Sheffield is seeking an Interim Finance Lead to support the business during a period of transition while a permanent appointment is made. The company operates across the UK and is known for its strong delivery culture, stability, and long-standing workforce.

 

This assignment requires a commercially focused, hands-on finance professional who is comfortable working closely with operational teams in a project-driven environment. Due to the nature of the role, on-site presence is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for monthly financial reporting and management accounts

  • Managing bank accounts, cash position, and completing all balance sheet reconciliations

  • Monitoring job costing, WIP, and project margin performance

  • Overseeing statutory and HMRC-related submissions, including PAYE, CIS, and VAT

  • Producing cashflow forecasts alongside integrated P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reports

  • Preparing full accounts to tight reporting deadlines

  • Partnering with delivery and operations teams to support project and programme requirements

  • Maintaining robust financial controls and ensuring adherence to internal processes and ISO standards

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in finance roles within construction, engineering, or similar project-led sectors

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and conditional formulas

  • Working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and project/job-costing systems

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident managing the full finance cycle

  • Exposure to design-and-build or contract-based project finances would be advantageous

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an interim finance professional available at short notice who can step in, stabilise the function, and add immediate value in a fast-paced environment.
