Interim Finance Director

Sharp Consultancy is delighted to be the exclusive partner to a leading manufacturing specialist based in Derbyshire, in the appointment of an exceptional Finance Director on an interim basis (initially a 3 month FTC), with a likelihood of a permanent appointment or contract extension.

 

Our client is a highly respected organisation, with a strong national reputation, and are entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation. This newly created position will be central to shaping the organisation’s financial strategy and ensuring robust controls, efficient processes, and high-quality commercial insight to drive strategic decision-making.

 

As a key member of the SLT, you will influence business strategy, investment decisions and operational improvements. Ideal candidates will be accomplished financial leaders with a proven track record in establishing core financial frameworks, leading business improvement initiatives, and delivering commercial leadership at a senior level.

 

Duties and responsibilities to include:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership as the primary finance contact, with full accountability for the development and growth of a high-performing finance team

  • Design and implement robust financial processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all accounting functions, with a strong focus on project-based and analytical requirements

  • Drive business growth initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and investment opportunities, aligning financial strategy with long-term objectives

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of comprehensive financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, year-end statutory accounts, and coordination of the external audit process

  • Lead the successful implementation of a new ERP system, ensuring seamless integration and optimization of financial operations

  • Act as a key external representative, managing strategic relationships with banking, insurance, investment and R&D partners, while ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines

  • Partner closely with the Managing Director, providing financial insight and commercial support to inform strategic decision-making

  • Serve as deputy to the Managing Director when required, contributing to overall business leadership and continuity

 

Person specification:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified

  • Previous manufacturing experience desirable
