Finance Manager

Job description

​Our client is a well‑established engineering and infrastructure services group with a major presence in the Yorkshire region. They are seeking a talented Finance Manager to lead financial operations within their regional head office. This newly created role follows internal progression and sits within a supportive, well‑structured senior leadership team.

The organisation operates across multiple long‑term infrastructure markets, including regulated utilities, energy, and wider civil engineering projects, supported by a strong multi‑year order pipeline and continued year‑on‑year growth.

This position offers an excellent blend of technical reporting and commercial exposure, including ownership of month‑end processes, management reporting, budgeting and CAPEX activities. It represents an outstanding opportunity for someone from a practice‑trained background looking to develop commercial acumen within a respected, forward‑looking engineering business.

Key highlights to include:

  • Package between £65,000 - £70,000

Duties and responsibilities to include:

  • Leading month‑end activities to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial records.

  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, highlighting risks or variances to senior finance leaders.

  • Leadinf the annual budgeting cycle and work with departmental managers to monitor overheads and financial performance.

  • Produce high‑quality management information for internal stakeholders and contribute to group‑level reporting requirements where needed.

  • Providing financial analysis to support commercial decision‑making and strategic projects.

  • Leading improvements in financial controls, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies.

  • Serving as a key point of contact for external auditors and collaborate closely with colleagues across the Finance function.

  • Overseeing core treasury processes, including routine bank reconciliations, cashflow monitoring, and authorisation of payments and employee expenses.

  • Coordinating the preparation of statutory financial statements and maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards.

  • Managing key tax activities, including VAT, corporation tax workings, and industry‑specific submissions.

  • Maintaining oversight of the fixed asset register and capital expenditure records.

  • Mentoring and develop team members within the Finance function, supporting their progression and capability growth.

Person Specification:

  • ACA / ACCA Qualified within Accountancy Practice
