Finance Business Partner

Job description

We’re delighted to be partnering with a multi-award-winning engineering business to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join their expanding team in Wakefield. This is a key role working closely with operational and commercial leaders to deliver insightful financial analysis, influence strategic decisions, and drive project performance. You’ll play a crucial part in turning financial data into meaningful action — becoming a trusted, visible voice within the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with project managers and senior stakeholders to analyse performance, identify efficiencies, and maximise profitability.

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning for core business areas.

  • Produce monthly management accounts, project forecasts, and variance analysis.

  • Deliver actionable, data-led insights to support strategic and operational decisions.

  • Assess and manage financial risks and opportunities across projects.

  • Support commercial initiatives including bids, tenders, and new business opportunities.

  • Contribute to divisional FP&A activities and performance reviews.

  • Improve reporting systems, data accuracy, and financial processes.

  • Maintain strong financial governance and ensure compliance across operations.

 

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner, ideally within engineering, construction, utilities, or other project-focused industries.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a passion for adding value and improving performance.

  • Experience with Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communicator, confident in influencing and challenging senior stakeholders.

  • Advanced Excel skills; ERP system experience advantageous.

  • Proactive, hands-on approach with a drive for continuous improvement.
