Finance Assistant

Job description

 Our client is an easily recognisable organisation based on the outskirts of York. They are currently looking to secure the services of a talented Finance Assistant support their wider Finance Team.

Job duties will include:

  • Perform reconciliations, journal processing and provide reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Processing of intercompany transactions.
  • Monitoring budget spends and providing reporting to budget holders.
  • Submitting payments to the banking system, via BACS file or one-off payments.
  • Provide purchase ledger cover during staff holidays and absence.
  • Maintain accurate invoicing records; prepare and distribute invoices.
  • Handle customer queries, disputes and proactively chase payments.
  • Support invoice approvals and respond to queries.
  • Reconciling refundable deposits and responding to related queries.
  • Support with collection of data and production of management accounts.
  • Support shared email inboxes and assist internal/external customers via phone.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts role is ideal.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel (functions and formulas).
  • Knowledge of Sage accounting systems is desirable but not essential.
  • Confident and professional telephone manner.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team player.
  • AAT Level 3 or above desirable.
