Sharp Consultancy is currently working with a well-established, family-run SME based in the Sheffield area, who are looking to recruit a loyal and trustworthy Company Accountant to join their close-knit team.

 

This role offers a comprehensive handover from the current accountant, ensuring you are fully equipped to take ownership of the position and make it your own. The business has enjoyed steady growth over the past five years and has exciting plans to continue this trajectory. Having recently purchased their offices and premises, there are positive changes taking place across the business. With the current incumbent approaching retirement, this is an excellent time to join.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the nominal ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes

  • Produce monthly management accounts and year-end reporting

  • Manage VAT returns and HMRC submissions

  • Oversee the purchase ledger, sales invoicing and credit control

  • Run weekly payroll and ensure statutory payments are made on time

  • Manage supplier payments, expenses and company cards

  • Review utility contracts and support cost-control initiatives

  • Provide financial support and insight to the wider business

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified by experience, with a strong background in SME environments

  • Previous experience using Sage 50

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach

  • A positive, can-do attitude
