Senior Finance Business Partner

Job description

​We’re delighted to be partnering with an award-winning engineering business to recruit a Finance Business Partner based in Wakefield. This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of the business, supporting senior leaders across operational and commercial teams, and providing the insight and challenge needed to deliver successful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with project managers and senior stakeholders to analyse performance and identify opportunities to maximise profitability

  • Lead the annual budgeting and long-term planning cycles

  • Deliver clear and actionable financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making

  • Manage monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis

  • Highlight project-level risks and opportunities, advising on corrective actions

  • Provide financial input for bids, tenders, and commercial initiatives

  • Support divisional finance lead with FP&A activity and performance reviews

  • Drive improvements in reporting tools, processes, and efficiency

  • Maintain strong financial controls and compliance standards

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Previous experience as a Finance Business Partner—ideally in engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, or another project-led environment

  • Strong commercial mindset with excellent analytical skills

  • Confident communicator able to influence and challenge effectively

  • Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience beneficial

  • Proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement
