Semi Senior Accountant

Job description

Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with an independent accountancy firm based in Retford in their search for a standout Semi Senior Accountant. The firm is a Xero Gold Partner and is known for its genuinely supportive culture and welcoming working environment – they’ve recently invested heavily in their office space, creating a modern, inspiring place to learn and grow, unlike anywhere else in the area!

This is a newly created role following the ambitious expansion plans of the firm and will work closely with a team of talented managers whilst overseeing a diverse portfolio of local clientele and SME businesses up to the £4mn T/O mark. The role will allow for full responsibility of a varied client portfolio but also take an advisory approach whilst managing the client work – giving you the chance to add real value and gain hands-on exposure to real-time accounting.

This role will be perfect for someone who has begun their accountancy journey within practice and is looking for a hands-on mentor who can guide them as they develop their own client portfolio and take on greater ownership in their work. In my opinion this firm offers the best of both worlds – an excellent training ground with an encouraging finance leader, but also the flexibility you need to balance work with your studies where it matters! We’re expecting this to be a super popular opportunity so do get in touch for more info or if you know someone who might be interested.

Highlights to include:

  • Salary between £30,000 - £35,000

  • Study Support for ACCA

  • Hybrid working

  • Flexible start and finish times

  • 26 days AL + 8 BH

Duties and responsibilities to include:

  • Process client invoices and carry out bank reconciliations to ensure all financial data is accurately recorded and maintained.

  • Maintain precise and up to date financial records across a broad and varied client portfolio.

  • Support the preparation and timely submission of quarterly VAT returns in line with current regulations.

  • Assist with the accurate preparation and submission of CIS returns, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

  • Contribute to the preparation of year end accounts and financial statements, working to established reporting standards.

  • Provide professional client support via telephone and email, delivering clear and effective communication as part of ongoing service delivery.

Person Specification:

  • AAT Qualified / ACA or ACCA Studier

  • Experience of working within Accountancy Practice
