Sharp Consultancy are proud to be partnering with an award-winning, highly regarded accountancy practice to recruit an experienced Manager for their Thirsk office.

 

This is a perfect opportunity for an motivated Senior looking to make their first move into Management or an experienced Manager interested in a clear development pathway into a Directorship position.

 

The Role:

As Manager, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring all compliance and advisory work is delivered to the highest standards. You will act as a trusted advisor, building strong client relationships while overseeing workflow and supporting junior staff.

This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical knowledge, leadership capability, and the confidence to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside a Director to take over and manage a portfolio of clients

  • Reviewing company, partnership and sole trader accounts

  • Reviewing VAT returns

  • Reviewing partnership and personal tax returns

  • Ensuring jobs are completed to a high standard and within deadlines

  • Training, supervising and supporting junior members of staff

  • Communicating effectively with clients and building long-term relationships

  • Maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge of current accounting standards

  • Audit exposure is advantageous but not essential

 

About You:

  • Significant experience within an accountancy practice environment

  • ACA / ACCA qualification or Qualified by Experience (QBE)

  • Strong technical knowledge of current accounting standards

  • Proficiency in Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and MS Office (CCH experience desirable)

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Strong leadership and mentoring ability

  • Confident communication skills with a client-focused approach

  • A proactive, motivated and professional attitude
