Payroll Assistant

Job description

 Sharp Consultancy are recruiting a Payroll Assistant for a 6 month fixed term contract for a well established business in York.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Running the monthly payroll for all Group companies, ensuring timely and accurate input of timesheets, overtime, and other data.

  • Ensuring compliance with starter and leaver documentation (e.g., P45s).

  • Managing PAYE/N payments and reconciliations.

  • Producing P11Ds and P60s within required deadlines.

  • Ensuring compliance with auto enrolment requirements.

  • Reviewing, maintaining, and administering expense claims in line with HMRC regulations.

  • Managing HMRC communications, including RTI.

  • Handling payroll, HMRC, and employee queries.

  • Supporting the Payroll Manager in achieving Group strategy and goals.

  • Carrying out other duties appropriate to the role.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Solid Microsoft Office skills and payroll software experience.

  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask.

  • Experience in a similar payroll role.

  • Up to date knowledge of HMRC regulations related to payroll and timesheets.

  • Experience with Dayforce payroll (desirable but not essential).
