Interim Management Accountant

Job description

 We are currently working on behalf of an organisation in Doncaster, to source an interim management accountant for an initial 6-month contract. This opportunity is perfect for a management accountant with interim experience who can hit the ground running.

As interim management accountant you will play a pivotal role in providing financial and management information to support decision-making processes within the organisation while also liaising closely with partner businesses. You will oversee a range of key financial functions, and ensure robust financial reporting, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, accurate financial management information, including monthly management accounts and budget holder reports.

  • Lead the preparation of the draft year-end financial statements and ensure timely submission of statutory returns, including corporation tax and VAT.

  • Manage the reconciliation of balance sheets, control accounts, and external/internal audits, ensuring all statutory, legislative, and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Oversee the preparation of revenue and capital budgets, as well as financial forecasts, ensuring they are effectively maintained and profiled within the accounting system.

  • Monitor and report on the organisations financial performance, providing variance analysis and income reports to assist senior management in decision-making.

  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the reconciliation of bank accounts to ensure effective financial controls and accurate processing.

  • Supervise cash flow forecasting, payroll management, and VAT transactions, ensuring compliance with financial procedures and regulations.

  • Manage capital income and expenditure reconciliation, fleet management, and stores stock reporting, ensuring all operational functions align with financial goals.

  • Provide expert financial advice, guidance, and training to Budget Holders, ensuring compliance with legislation and accounting codes.

  • Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers to support the Finance Team’s effectiveness.

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting systems to ensure the business can effectively monitor and control financial performance.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in similar role.

  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and managing a diverse range of financial operations.

  • A hands-on approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
