Located in York, our client is a top-tier business currently undergoing an exciting expansion phase. To support this growth, they are hunting for an energetic Graduate Accounts Assistant to join their finance department. The Role

Working alongside the Finance Manager and the broader team, you will play a vital role in day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end closures, and financial reporting. This position offers a deep dive into operational finance, including stock management and manufacturing analysis, essential building blocks for a successful career in the industry.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ledger Support: Manage daily transactions across sales, purchase, and general ledgers.

  • Reconciliations: Verify supplier statements and resolve any billing discrepancies.

  • Invoicing: Handle customer billing and assist the credit control team.

  • Month-End Prep: Support the creation of journals, including prepayments and accruals.

  • Financial Integrity: Help with balance sheet reconciliations and basic variance reporting.

  • Manufacturing Finance: Assist with costings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and inventory valuations.

  • Operational Partnership: Collaborate with production staff to track efficiency, waste, and cost drivers.

  • Process Growth: Contribute to system upgrades, automation projects, and internal control improvements.

What You’ll Need

The Essentials:

  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related Business field.

  • Sharp analytical mind and comfort working with numbers.

  • Excel proficiency (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and core formulas).

  • Strong organisational habits and clear communication skills.

  • A sincere drive to qualify as a management accountant.

The "Nice-to-Haves":

  • Prior experience via an internship, placement, or part-time finance role.

  • Familiarity with ERP software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle).

  • A passion for the business and/or manufacturing sectors.
