Graduate - Accounts Assistant

​A growing engineering business based in the Hull area is looking to recruit a recent or 2026 Graduate to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly analytical individual with strong Excel skills who is interested in developing a career within finance and accounting.

The successful candidate will initially focus on process improvement and data analysis, helping the business review and streamline existing systems using advanced Excel capabilities. Alongside this, you will support the finance team with day-to-day transactional duties, gaining exposure to core accounting processes.

As you develop in the role, there will be a clear pathway to progress into an Assistant Accountant position, taking on greater responsibility within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and improve internal processes using advanced Excel modelling and data analysis.

  • Support the finance team with accounts assistant duties, including transactional processing.

  • Assist with financial reporting and reconciliations.

  • Work closely with different departments to improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency.

  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline workflows.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Recent graduate or 2026 graduate in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g. complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, automation).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational ability.

  • Interested in developing a career within accounting and finance.

  • Proactive mindset with an interest in process improvement and efficiency.
