Assistant Accountant

Sharp Consultancy is pleased to be partnering with a successful, progressive business that is looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to further enhance its finance team.

This position presents an outstanding opportunity for a detail focused and driven individual to gain wide-ranging experience across key financial operations within a supportive, dynamic setting.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in assisting with a variety of accounting tasks, covering everything from day to day transactions through to month end duties and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and distribute customer invoices.

  • Address invoicing queries and oversee credit control.

  • Ensure prompt payment collection and chase overdue amounts.

Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier invoices and maintain accurate reconciliations.

  • Manage payment runs and investigate any inconsistencies.

Banking & Reconciliation

  • Complete daily bank and credit card reconciliations.

Payroll & HR Support

  • Contribute to payroll processing by checking timesheets and resolving issues.

  • Administer onboarding and leaver documentation in line with company procedures.

Month-End & Reporting

  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations (including fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments).

  • Review overheads and analyse variances.

  • Take part in monthly stock counts and support cost reporting for the board.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience using Xero.

  • Good working knowledge of Excel for basic analysis and data tasks.

  • Confidence with general office systems and processes.

  • Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to prioritise multiple deadlines.
