Credit Controller

Job description

 Our client are looking to appoint a driven Credit Controller to join our Finance Shared Service Centre in Harrogate. Working closely with the Credit Control Team Leader, you will take responsibility for protecting cash flow, reducing debtor days, and developing effective working relationships across the business and with customers.

This is a hands on role suited to someone with a proactive mindset, attention to detail and the confidence to take ownership of their ledger.

The Role

  • Manage a defined customer ledger, proactively chasing outstanding balances and resolving overdue debt.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers to support timely collections.

  • Log and manage customer queries accurately, ensuring swift resolution.

  • Support the production of customer reports and undertake debt and payment trend analysis.

  • Assist with credit limit reviews in line with internal policies and controls.

  • Provide team support and cover as required to ensure continuity of service.

About You

  • Previous experience in credit control is advantageous, though not essential (full training provided).

  • Comfortable using Excel, with exposure to formulas and pivot tables preferred.

  • Confident communicator with a professional and effective telephone manner.

  • Ambitious, inquisitive, and keen to develop within a finance environment.

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with high attention to detail.
