A charity based centrally in York that does incredible work seeks an Interim Finance Manager for an initial 6 month contract.

The role is to support the Head of Finance by taking responsibility for managing the processing of financial transactions including the review of monthly reconciliations and review of key journals. The post holder is also responsible for preparing monthly management reports for internal use and monthly and quarterly reports to commissioners of services.

Key tasks include:

* Supervising two staff (the Finance Supervisor and Finance Assistant) in the performance of their responsibilities. Ideally, you will have previous line management experience, but this is not essential so long as you can demonstrate leadership qualities.
* Prepare monthly management accounts with notes on key variances.
* Prepare draft finance returns to commissioners' requirements for review by Regional Managers, Head of Finance
* Prepare year end schedules for audit and act as main point of contact for queries during audit field work.
* Manage the purchase ledger, sales ledger and expenses.
* Review and approve monthly journals prior to input eg payroll journal.
* Prepare monthly journals - deferred income prepayments and accruals.
* Prepare year end specific journals, eg depreciation adjustment, overhead adjustments, transfer of fund balances.
* Maintain a summary of grant balances allocate codes to new grants and advise managers of unspent grants.
* Ensure regular P&L reports are available for Local Managers.
* Prepare monthly and annual reporting timetables.
* Check the monthly payroll variance report and act as first approval of monthly payroll.
* Keep Finance procedures processes and controls under review and assist the Head of Finance in looking for improvements and efficiencies.
* Provide induction and training for other members of the Finance team.

This is a great all round role that would suit someone who is passionate about the charity sector. You may be formally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) but this is not essential if you have proven, relevant experience. Ideally this role will start Feb24 and may lead to a permanent role.
