Senior Management Accountant

Job description

We are delighted to be partnering with a well-established global logistics business based in Leeds to recruit a Senior Management Accountant.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a pivotal role within the finance team, taking ownership of the monthly management accounts process, supporting group reporting requirements, and providing valuable financial analysis and commercial insight to help drive business performance and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts

  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial support and commercial insight

  • Prepare group reporting packs and assist with consolidations

  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process

  • Deliver meaningful variance analysis and performance reporting

  • Manage stock accounting and inventory reporting

  • Oversee intercompany reconciliations and transactions

  • Monitor and report on cash flow

  • Prepare VAT returns and support statutory reporting requirements

  • Assist with year-end accounts preparation and external audits

  • Provide support with payroll activities where required

  • Identify and implement improvements to financial controls, systems and processes

  • Support and mentor junior members of the finance team while contributing to the wider day-to-day finance function

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, be part-qualified, or qualified by experience

  • Prior people management or supervisory experience

  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency

  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach

  • Proactive mindset with strong commercial awareness

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships across the business

  • Experience within logistics, distribution, industrial or manufacturing environments.
