Job description

​A Leeds-based business is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join on an interim basis, with a strong opportunity for the role to become permanent.

The primary purpose of this position is to support the business in managing the month-end process while leading and developing a finance team. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, with a focus on accelerating and streamlining month-end activities. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate cash flow forecasting, working closely with key stakeholders to manage cash outflows and oversee foreign exchange contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts Preparation (for review), including:

  • Sales and margin reporting

  • Overhead analysis and review

  • Accruals and prepayments

  • Intercompany loan reconciliations

  • Balance sheet reconciliations and valuations

  • Stock reconciliations and provisioning

  • Board pack preparation

VAT Reporting:

  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns for the UK & Europe

  • Reconciliation of VAT returns to the trial balance

  • Completion of Intrastat returns

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial insight and support to the wider business.

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Support the year-end audit.

  • Manage fixed asset accounting.

  • Perform P&L analysis for corporation tax returns.

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the finance team.

  • Conduct one-to-one meetings and performance appraisals.

  • Lead and support the development of team members.
