Our client a Sheffield based NHS Trust are seeking a qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent Accountant to join the team on a contract basis to cover internal secondment. The initial term of the contract is due to be 6 months however there is potential for this to extend. The primary focus of the role is to support the management, monitoring and reporting of the Trust Capital Programme, working closely with Corporate and Digital leads across the Trust, so as to identify maximum resources for investment and delivering a balanced capital programme over the medium and short-term.


Key responsibilities will include:
*To provide financial advice and guidance to members of the Trust's Technology Business Case Assurance Team, on both business case development and the planning and management of non-recurrent revenue resources for supporting IT investments.
*To ensure rigorous financial control is implemented and maintained, and maximum value is achieved from the available resource.
*To support the Trust's capital income recovery process, working closely with charitable and other third party partners, applying strong governance and risk mitigation in relation to capital income streams.
*To support capital VAT recovery, working closely with the Trust Taxation Manager.
*To provide expert advice to, and leadership of, the development and implementation of the Trust's overarching strategy regarding lease/right of use asset obligations.
*To participate in technical advisory groups (nationally or regionally) in response to new NHS accounting policy introduction, as appropriate, and interpret for local adoption across the asset base of the Trust.
*To support the timely and accurate completion of the Capital aspects of the Trust's Statutory Financial Statements (Annual Accounts), and other periodic financial returns or national financial capital and investment accounting exercises.
*To monitor and maintain the fitness for purpose, and timely and effective functioning of, the Capital and Investment finance operations underpinning the Trust's business operations.
*To ensure the provision of appropriate technical advice and completion of information to support business case production for capital investment decisions and value for money assessments across the Trust.
*To attend and/or support Capital Investment Project Teams, providing financial direction and advice.
*To contribute to production of the Trust's annual capital charges exercise, and long term depreciation forecasts.
*To provide financial direction and guidance to the Informatics Directorate, ensuring rigorous financial control is implemented and maintained. To promote the highest standards of financial management and governance.
*To act as a vital and integral member of the Executive Management Team for the Informatics Directorate, providing strategic financial and business planning advice to the team, across both capital and revenue perspectives.
*To contribute to and influence major strategic and operational decisions within the Informatics Directorate.
