Graduate Management Accountant

Job description

Are you a recent graduate looking to build a long-term career in management accounting?

I am working with an established and successful manufacturing business that is looking to appoint a Graduate Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious graduate to develop their accounting career within a commercially focused environment, gaining hands-on experience across management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis.

Working closely with the wider finance team and operational stakeholders, you will gain a strong understanding of how financial information supports decision-making across the business. The role will provide exposure to the full management accounting cycle, with plenty of opportunity to develop your technical accounting and commercial skills as you progress.

The Role (including full training):

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and management reporting packs

  • Performing, accruals and prepayments and updating journals

  • Assisting with month-end close and ensuring financial results are accurately reported

  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes across the business

  • Preparing and analysing monthly forecasts against actual performance

  • Assisting with accruals, prepayments, journals and other month-end adjustments

  • Supporting balance reconciliations

  • Providing financial insight to help understand the performance of different areas of the manufacturing business

  • Developing an understanding of costs, margins, profitability and key business performance indicators

  • Working towards increased responsibility for management accounts, with ownership of your own cost centres

About You:

We’re looking for a graduate who is interested in a career in finance and enjoys learning new skills and expanding their knowledge.

You’ll ideally have:

  • An Undergraduate Degree (Mathematics/Finance related Degree preferred but not essential)

  • Good numerical and analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good Excel skills and confidence working with data

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • A willingness to learn and develop

  • An interest in a career within a finance function

  • Previous finance experience would be advantageous but is not essential. What’s most important is your approach to learning, attention to detail and genuine interest in a career in finance.

The Opportunity:

This role offers a supportive career development pathway. You’ll start by gaining experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger and other core accounting processes, before gradually taking on additional responsibilities within the finance function.

Over time, the role could provide valuable experience for a career in management accounting, commercial finance or wider financial analysis, with the opportunity to work towards a professional accounting qualification.
