Financial Controller

Job description

​We are working with a well-established and growing financial services business in Leeds to support in their search for an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function and support continued strategic growth.

Operating within a regulated environment, the business has built a strong reputation within the market and is looking for a technically strong and commercially aware finance leader to oversee financial control, reporting, and governance.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Leading the day-to-day finance function and managing a high-performing finance team

  • Overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting processes

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory reporting requirements

  • Managing the preparation of financial statements and external audits

  • Driving improvements in financial controls, processes, and reporting accuracy

  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management

  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight

  • Managing relationships with auditors, regulators, and external advisors

  • Supporting strategic projects, systems improvements, and business growth initiatives

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification

  • Previous experience within insurance or wider financial services

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting and financial controls

  • Experience managing and developing finance teams

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

  • A proactive and hands-on approach within a fast-paced environment

  • Strong systems and process improvement capability
