​An exciting Financial Controller opportunity has arisen with a well-established, acquisitive service business based in Bradford. Following a period of sustained growth and several internal promotions, the businesDWI41987s is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to play a key role in its ongoing success.

Reporting closely to the CFO and Head of Finance, the Financial Controller will gain broad exposure across both the financial and commercial functions of the business. This highly visible role will provide valuable insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making, drive operational performance, and contribute to the company's continued growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team, providing ongoing coaching, guidance and support to encourage high performance and professional development.

  • Oversee the timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis.

  • Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing meaningful insight to support strategic decision-making and evaluate new business opportunities.

  • Take ownership of cash flow forecasting and working capital management to ensure the business maintains a strong financial position.

  • Present monthly and quarterly financial performance to the senior leadership team, highlighting key trends, risks and opportunities.

  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes in collaboration with the senior leadership team.

  • Partner closely with the Finance Director and Managing Director to enhance commercial reporting, improve profitability and support business growth initiatives.

  • Develop, implement and maintain robust financial controls, processes and governance to safeguard the business and drive continuous improvement.

  • Manage the year-end close process, coordinating audit preparation and ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including banking partners, auditors and professional advisers.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.

  • Proven track record of leading, developing and motivating finance teams.

  • Strong technical accounting expertise, with experience using financial reporting systems and ERP platforms.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

  • Confidence to communicate financial information clearly and translate it into meaningful, actionable insights for stakeholders across the business.

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and support senior leadership in commercial decision-making.

  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for driving efficiencies, enhancing processes and delivering business performance.
