Finance Manager

​This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation as a Finance Manager, playing a pivotal role within a high-performing and supportive finance team based in York.

As a Finance Manager, you will report directly to the Finance Director and take ownership of delivering robust financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making across the business. You will ensure the accurate and timely production of monthly and annual management accounts, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance, improve efficiencies, and support business growth. You will also lead, develop, and mentor members of the finance team.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Full ownership of the preparation of monthly and annual management accounts

  • Leading budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring financial plans align with wider business objectives

  • Review and ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and financial integrity

  • Delivering detailed variance analysis across departmental performance, costs, and profitability, with clear commentary for senior stakeholders

  • Providing financial reporting at senior leadership level, including performance insights and strategic recommendations

  • Business partnering with operational and departmental managers to improve financial control, efficiency, and commercial performance

  • Supporting and mentoring junior finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous development

  • Driving process improvements across finance systems and reporting, with a focus on efficiency and scalability

  • Supporting ad-hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the wider business

This role offers genuine opportunities for progression as you further develop your leadership capabilities and gain broader exposure to commercial and strategic decision-making. You will have full visibility across the finance function and play a key role in supporting and shaping business performance.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA accountant with strong experience in management accounting and financial reporting. You will have a proven track record of operating at a senior level within a finance team, with excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
