Job description

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation within the manufacturing sector as a Finance Manager, playing a pivotal role within a high-performing and supportive finance team based in Wakefield.

As a Finance Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Finance and take ownership of delivering robust financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making across the business. You will ensure the accurate and timely production of monthly and annual management accounts, while working closely with production and operations teams to drive performance and cost efficiencies. You will also lead, develop, and mentor one member of the finance team.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Full ownership of the preparation of monthly and annual management accounts

  • Leading budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning financial plans with production and operational targets

  • Review and ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and integrity

  • Delivering detailed variance analysis, particularly across production costs, margins, and operational performance, with clear commentary for senior stakeholders

  • Providing financial reporting at senior leadership and board level, including performance insights and recommendations

  • Business partnering with operations and production teams to improve cost control, efficiency, and profitability

  • Supporting and mentoring junior finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous development

  • Driving process improvements across finance systems and reporting, with a focus on efficiency and scalability

  • Supporting ad-hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the wider business

This role offers genuine opportunities for progression as you further develop your leadership capabilities and gain deeper exposure to commercial and operational decision-making within a manufacturing environment. You will have full visibility of the finance function and play a key role in shaping business strategy.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA accountant with strong experience in management accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment. You will have a proven track record of operating at a senior level within a finance team, with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Experience of working closely with operational teams and understanding cost drivers within a manufacturing setting will be highly advantageous.
