Finance Assistant

Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with a well-established and growing organisation based in Chesterfield, who are seeking to appoint a driven and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join their finance team.

 

This position would suit an individual who is keen to build on existing finance experience within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end purchase ledger processing, including accurate input of supplier invoices, reconciliation of supplier statements, and preparation of payment runs

  • Management of the sales ledger function, including raising invoices, issuing statements, credit control activities, and allocation of receipts

  • Daily bank reconciliations and responsibility for ad-hoc payments, along with oversight of petty cash

  • Supporting month-end processes by maintaining accurate financial records, processing journals, and ensuring all transactional data is up to date in line with reporting deadlines

  • Managing the finance inbox, responding to both internal and external queries in a timely and professional manner

  • Producing reports and analysis to support the Finance Manager and Finance Director with business decision-making

  • Contributing to ongoing process improvements, with a particular focus on automation and the adoption of AI-driven solutions

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g. Finance Assistant or Accounts Assistant)

  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

  • Good understanding of core accounting principles

  • Confident user of Excel and finance systems

  • Awareness of emerging technologies, particularly AI, within the finance function

  • AAT Qualified or currently studying

 

In return this business can offer a salary around £27,000. They can also offer AAT study support, a generous holiday entitlement, a modern office environment and free parking.
