Accounts Assistant

​A family-run logistics business based in Barnsley is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their established and close-knit team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function and assisting with all aspects of transactional finance across the business.

As an Accounts Assistant, you will work closely with the finance team and wider business, ensuring the smooth processing of financial information within a busy logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing high volumes of purchase ledger invoices accurately and efficiently

  • Raising and processing sales invoices

  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice queries

  • Performing daily bank reconciliations

  • Assisting with credit control and chasing outstanding payments

  • Preparing supplier payment runs

  • Supporting payroll administration and employee expenses

  • Assisting with month-end procedures and reporting

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and data entry

  • Providing general administrative support to the finance department

About You:

  • Previous experience within an accounts or finance administration role

  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment would be advantageous

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software

  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships

  • A proactive and flexible approach to work

  • Reliable, personable, and able to work well within a team environment
