Assistant Management Accountant

Job description

​This is an excellent opportunity within the Manufacturing sector for a CIMA/ACCA Part-Qualified Assistant Management Accountant to join a well-established and growing finance team based in Wakefield.

As the Assistant Management Accountant, you will report directly to the Senior Management Accountant and play a key role in supporting the finance function by providing accurate financial information, assisting with reporting processes, and supporting commercial decision-making across the business. Main responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines

  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities alongside the Financial Controller

  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any discrepancies or variances identified

  • Producing financial analysis and performance reports to support operational and strategic decision-making

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly KPI reporting and management information packs

  • Supporting stock accounting, inventory reconciliations, and cost analysis within a manufacturing environment

  • Assisting with month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal controls and company procedures

  • Supporting process improvements across finance systems, reporting, and controls

  • Assisting with year-end audit requirements and providing supporting documentation as required

  • Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support to the wider finance team and operational stakeholders

Ideally, you will be studying towards CIMA or ACCA, with previous experience in an Assistant Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Analyst, Accounts Assistant, or Finance Assistant role. You will be looking to further develop your management accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and commercial awareness within a supportive and growing business.
