Sharp Consultancy are currently recruiting for one of Rotherham’s most iconic manufacturing businesses. The business are hiring an Assistant Management Accountant to join their expanding team. As the Assistant Management Accountant you will report into the Financial Controller and be handed numerous responsibilities. This is a brand new position and you will work towards the following job brief:
*Be responsible for closely supporting the operational team with all finance matters, working with them to identify and resolve any issues
*Develop an understanding of the contractual obligations, commercial model and performance targets for the operation
*Be proactive in supporting the operational team
*Raise risks, issues and opportunities to the Financial Controller in a timely manner
*Month end reporting & analysis of actual financial performance alongside financial and operational KPIs
*Supporting Business Managers in the forecasting process by providing analysis and aiding the preparation of the plan
*Supporting the annual business planning (budgeting) process
*Support Business Managers with decision making in areas like headcount, estates, cost control
*Prepare and analyse cost saving opportunities, support the FC to develop business cases to support decisions on new business initiatives
*Identify and evaluate risks & opportunities to the forecasts / plan
*Work with the FC to turn sales forecasts for new programmes into operational business plans and support implementation of these projects
*Work with the business development team on financial models for bids
*Develop tools and models to support the business make financial decisions using techniques such as trend analysis and scenario planning
*Undertaking regular checks on spend within cost centres to ensure it is aligned to the staff within that cost centre – for example, telephones, expenses, PMI
*Being proactive in reviewing accruals and prepayments to ensure they provide a true and fair view of the business and liaising with the Central Finance Team where necessary
*Highlighting petty cash, income issues to operational managers, RD and FC as appropriate and ensuring any issues are resolved.
*Providing financial training (where appropriate) on forecasting, accruals and prepayments
*Support the FC in understanding operational and financial performance
As you gather experience as part of this highly-focussed team you will see a return of between £22,000 and £28,000 p.a dependant on experience.
The ideal candidate will have lots of commercial experience and an analytical mind set. Advanced Excel skills are a requirement of the role so please ensure your level of skill is clearly detailed on your CV. The company’s ethos means it will provide plenty of time and resources into training the candidate. As part of this training candidates will receive a full study-support programme with study leave and financial subsidisation if they aren’t already qualified.
The study-support package is available for CIMA, ACCA or ACA studiers. This role will involve some national travel from time to time so if you are a keen traveller then this is an excellent role.
