Accounts Assistant

Sharp Consultancy are currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a finance team in Huddersfield on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role plays a key part in supporting the Assistant Accountant, ensuring all invoices are accurately checked, matched, and processed in a timely manner.

 

The Role

As Accounts Assistant, your main focus will be supporting purchase ledger and accounts administration activities, working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure financial processes run smoothly.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing electronic invoices for authorisation

  • Purchase Ledger administration

  • Matching supplier invoices to delivery notes

  • Liaising with suppliers and responding to queries

  • Processing incoming supplier statements

  • Completing and sending new account applications for new suppliers

  • Inputting new supplier details onto Sage X3 and completing credit account forms

  • Managing electronic supplier files

  • Maintaining returnable packaging spreadsheets

  • Managing internal debit notes and reconciling with supplier credit notes

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in a similar accounts or finance role

  • Be highly organised, methodical, and detail focused

  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to query and challenge where necessary

  • Be a motivated self starter, able to prioritise workload effectively

  • Have excellent administration skills and a professional approach at all times

 

What’s on offer?

  • Salary £26,000 - £28,000 dependant on experience

  • 12 month fixed term contract

  • Immediate start

  • Finish at 2.30pm every Friday
